Product Description Primeval sees evolutionary zoologist Nick Cutter make the terrifying discovery that prehistoric creatures are alive and well in the twenty-first century. The natural world is turned on its head and humanity faces extinction as unexplained anomalies rip holes in the fabric of time and allow creatures from the earliest stages of Earth's development to roam the modern world.
Set in the rainforests of Peru in this brand new Primeval adventure Cutter, Stephen, Abbie and Connor face a bigger challenge than they could have possibly imagined…
A heady mixture of action and adventure, Cutter and his team are forced to confront terrifying creatures from the past and the future with gripping consequences.

purchased for my son October 18, 2008 J. Norris (SC) I purchased this book for my 11 yr old son. He loved it. He read it about 3x the first week. It definitely has the action/adventure that would appeal to a boy of this age.
Rather dreary June 24, 2008 Dean Shewring 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Steven Savile's Shadow of the Jaguar was really not the best start for the Primeval series of adult novels. The team seemed always to be pulled along by events and never seemed to get a handle on the plot. Neither do we. Perhaps it's because there is no direct encounter with the anomaly? In any case, the first quarter of the book sees the team of Professor Cutter and co. flying down to Peru and checking in to their hotel. Yup, that's what they do alright. Then they blunder around for the rest of the book while a lot of secondary characters get eaten. Okay, it's not quite as bad as that -- not quite. If I had to describe this novel in one word it would be 'grueling' -- both for the characters and for the reader.
a fun read for Primeval fans June 13, 2008 bOoKwOrM (usa) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
A fun book based on the UK scifi show called "Primeval". The book is a new adventure(not a novelization of an existing tv episode), and is in the same hardcover fromat and style of writing as the new Doctor Who novels. Definitely recommended for fans of the show.
